Returns from Triple-A IL
Triple-A Durham reinstated Chang (oblique) from its 7-day injured list Friday.
ANALYSIS
Chang has made both of his first two starts at shortstop for Durham, going 1-for-7 with a walk. He attended spring training with the Rays as a non-roster invitee but was unable to win a spot as a utility infielder on Tampa Bay's Opening Day roster after straining his left oblique early in camp.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
May see time at short
Chang could get some playing time at shortstop with Wander Franco out with a wrist injury, reports Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times.
ANALYSIS
Taylor Walls is expected to get the majority of the workload at short in Franco's absence but Chang is likely to get some playing time as well. The Rays claimed Chang off waivers last Tuesday after he was designated for assignment by the Pirates. The 26-year-old has only started six games at shortstop in his big-league career but spent the majority of his minor-league career at the position. Since being acquired by Tampa Bay, he's 2-for-7 with two starts at second base.

Chang once again enters the 2022 campaign without a guaranteed spot in the lineup. The 26-year-old bounced between Cleveland and Triple-A Columbus last season, posting a lackluster .228/.267/.426 slash line across 251 plate appearances in the majors. He's a versatile defender capable of playing all around the infield, but his best path to playing time this season is likely a short-side platoon at either first base with Bobby Bradley or second base with Andres Gimenez. Owen Miller and Ernie Clement will also likely push Chang for a bench role for the remainder of spring training.
