NEWS UPDATE
Patterson is hitting .474 so far this spring, and judging by manager Dusty Baker's comments, he's in good shape to win not just the starting center field job, but also the leadoff spot, the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
ROTOWIRE FANTASY ANALYSIS
Like it or not from a sabermetric standpoint, Patterson takes on a whole lot of value from a fantasy perspective if this holds. He'll hit in a pretty nice ballpark to hit and get plenty of stolen base opportunities. "I always thought he'd be a good leadoff man," Baker said. "He's got all the tangibles to be a leadoff man. Maybe sometime you're not ready. When he came up, he didn't know how to bunt. They said he was going to be a 30-30 man and it got in his head."
