2013
There was no outlook written for Scott Patterson.
2009
After toiling for seven seasons in the minors, Patterson got a taste of the big leagues because the Yankees' bullpen was depleted after a string of extra inning games in mid-June. In mid-September, Patterson was claimed off of waivers by San Diego, who has a knack of turning journeyman relievers into useful entities. Unfortunately, Patterson had his season cut a little short when he suffered a herniated disk while lifting weights. Even if he wins a bullpen job during spring training, he's too risky for fantasy owners to consider.
2008
Patterson might emerge as the 2008 version of Edwar Ramirez in pinstripes, given his unusual path to the majors and gaudy numbers against much younger competition. A 91:15 K:BB ratio would be impressive over 77.1 innings in a beach wiffleball league, so there's a chance that you'll see him in the bigs at some point in the near future, but don't expect him to receive a high-pressure or fantasy-friendly role until we see if he can hold is own against the big boys.
