Last week's trade between the Blue Jays and Marlins was approved by Commissioner Bud Selig on Monday, the Associated Press reports, sending Reyes and four others to the Blue Jays in exchange for seven players.
ROTOWIRE FANTASY ANALYSIS
Officially, the Blue Jays will receive Reyes, Mark Buehrle, Josh Johnson, John Buck and Emilio Bonifacio and $4 million from the Marlins in exchange for Yunel Escobar, Adeiny Hechavarria, Henderson Alvarez, Jeff Mathis and prospects Jake Marisnick, Justin Nicolino, and Anthony DeSclafani. Reyes will immediately be inserted as the team's shortstop and fortify an offense that could be among the strongest in baseball. Meanwhile, Buehrle and Johnson will join Brandon Morrow and Ricky Romero to comprise the top four of the team's rotation. Bonifacio is a contender to start at second base while Buck figures to slot into a reserve role behind J.P. Arencibia.
