The Red Sox and Pirates appear to be closing in on a deal involving Hanrahan, according to MLB.com.
ROTOWIRE FANTASY ANALYSIS
Things have been trending in the direction of a trade involving Hanrahan all month, though the Pirates had been thought to be most interested in acquiring a shortstop. The report suggests the key pieces going the other way to Pittsburgh as being first baseman Jerry Sands and right-hander Stolmy Pimentel. But assuming the trade comes to a close, we'll get confirmation of all the pieces involved -- it's thought to include six players total -- and whether the Red Sox now intend to use Hanrahan or Andrew Bailey as their closer, or perhaps let the two compete for the job.
