Edwin Encarnacion: (Wrist) OK After Fireworks Accident -
1/2/2010 11:41:58 AM
Update:
Encarnacion (wrist) was treated for first and second degree burns on his face after getting hit by a firecracker during a New Year's Eve celebration in the Dominican Republic, the
Blue Jays' official site reports.
Recommendation:
"Thank God all is well with my face. I have no fractures or serious damage and will not need any surgery," Encarnacion told ESPNdeportes.com on the phone as he left Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami. "The doctors say I'll have to go a week without sun, but I can train without problems in two weeks." It sounds like Encarnacion will come away from the incident with no long-term injuries, so he should be fine for the start of spring training. Looking ahead, his wrist is the greater concern with respect to his expected production in 2010.
