Anderson (elbow) is scheduled to throw 90 pitches for Triple-A Sacramento Friday, and may only need one more rehab start after that before returning to Oakland's rotation, the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

With Anderson nearing a return and Brandon McCarthy scheduled to start Friday, the A's should have one if the deepest rotations in baseball down the home stretch. You always want to be cautious with a guy returning from major surgery (Tommy John in this case), but Anderson is a a 24-year-old lefty with a career K:BB ratio of 3.1:1.
